US state senator Jeff Wilson, has been given bail on Monday in Hong Kong after he was arrested for having a gun in his carry-on.

Wilson is a senator for Washington State and his court hearing is set for October 30. He has been charged with possession of an unregistered firearm. He was taken into custody Friday night and said, "It was an honest mistake, and I expect the situation to be resolved shortly."
Wilson was traveling from Portland International airport to Hong Kong on a five week personal vacation with his wife when he realized he was carrying the gun in his bag and immediately told custom officials.
TSA is confused as to how they could have missed the firearm as he went through the security checkpoint as they confiscated 6,542 firearms in 2022.
Washington state's senate republican leader said he has been monitoring the situation closely and believes it was "an honest mistake."
