On Friday President Vladimir Putin announced that he would be running in the next presidential election in hopes to extend his presidency for another six years.
Putin was first elected in March of 2000 and at the moment it looks like he is a shoe in to win with 80% of the population supporting him. He remains to have tremendous support even though he caused a costly war with Ukraine.
If Putin wins, he will remain in power until 2030.
