Hunter Biden, Joe Biden’s son who’s found himself in the limelight for all the wrong reasons since his father’s election, has officially stated his willingness to comply with a subpoena issued by the House of Representatives which will have him speaking in front of the chamber as he is interviewed on the matter of his potentially illegal business dealings.
Hunter was originally scheduled to appear at the house on December 13th, though that date could change. Another thing that could change with this scenario is the matter of the meeting itself.
Abbe Lowell, Biden’s lawyer, stated, “We have seen you use closed-door sessions to manipulate, even distort the facts and misinform the public. We therefore propose opening the door.”
This quote shows the willingness by Hunter’s team to put him in a spot where he can be questioned by a chamber of what should be America’s finest minds.
The issue? That’s not how it all works. House Oversight Committee Chair James Comer stated, “Hunter Biden is trying to play by his own rules instead of following the rules required of everyone else. That won’t stand with House Republicans…Our lawfully issued subpoena to Hunter Biden requires him to appear for a deposition on December 13…We expect full cooperation with our subpoena for a deposition but also agree that Hunter Biden should have [an] opportunity to testify in a public setting at a future date.”
Time will only tell what happens between the two parties as we get closer to the December 13 date set by the House, and as we do near that date, we’ll keep you updated here on news central.
