What to Do Over Spring Break

Spring break is the perfect time to enjoy the outdoors and hang out with friends; however, it can be hard to come up with ideas for things to do. I always find myself getting bored midway through my vacation because I run out of activities. Here is a short list of fun ways you can spend your spring break!

1. Backpacking Backpacking is something I have always wanted to do. Hiking is one of the greatest pastimes in my opinion, and what better way to challenge yourself then going on a hike that lasts a couple of days. Spending time in nature and away from technology and the stress of everyday life is very therapeutic.

2. Volunteer

Volunteering is not only a rewarding experience, but it also can be beneficial. Whether you want to go on a mission trip or volunteer in your local community, it is definitely something to consider. There is truly no better feeling then helping someone and knowing you had a positive influence on their life.

3. Go On a Road trip

One of my favorite things to do is go on a drive to clear my head and leave my responsibilities behind. There are so many possibilities that come along with planning out a road trip. Going with your friends can be relevantly inexpensive and fun. Whether you want to sleep in a tent, rent an Airbnb or even stay in a hostel, there are many affordable options to choose from.

4. Visit National Parks

If you are someone who would rather go on day trips instead of ones that last several days, I would suggest visiting national parks. One of the best things about living in Washington is how beautiful the outdoors are and how many hiking trails are available in the area. Mt. Rainier National Park, Olympic National Park, and North Cascades National Park are a few of the places you can venture to in Washington. Grab a snack, put on your hiking boots and go explore!

5. Travel Abroad

Spring break provides the perfect opportunity to visit another country. While this isn't the cheapest option, it is still achievable. Planning a big trip can take a lot of time and effort to save up for, but visiting other countries will give you new perspectives and memories to last a lifetime. The process of planning a vacation can be just as exciting as going on the trip itself. If you are someone who is more spontaneous, choose a random location on a map and take a week to explore it.

Spring break can fly by in a heartbeat. It is easy to end up spending your whole break at home on the couch; however, with a little planning, your vacation can turn from bland and boring to one of the best times you've ever had. Spring break is the perfect time to discover new places and make new memories with your friends.
