88.1 The 'Burg Zine Project

Objective:

Create a collaborative zine that showcases the creativity, stories, artwork, and talents of the @881theburg team. The zine will be printed and ready for distribution on March 14.  Submission deadline February 21 at Noon.

Project overview:
  • Title/Theme: ‘Burgfoot Prints. The theme will be “What’s your footprint on the airwaves?” The zine will reflect the collective voice and creativity of the station. Consider stories, poetry, art, photography, personal essays, and other forms of expression that speak to who you are and who we are as a collective.

  • Format: The zine will be a DIY-style publication (standard letter size format 8.5 in x 11 in, double-sided, black & white, with some potential for color pages or covers).

  • Size: Half letter in inches is 5.5 × 8.5 inches, (If you fold a standard landscape letter-size sheet of paper in half across the middle [folded top to bottom], it will equal a half letter-sized sheet of paper.)

  • Word count: A typical half-letter page can hold around 200-250 words depending on the font size, spacing, art, and margin settings used, with a general rule of thumb being that a single-spaced half-letter page can fit roughly 500 words if fully filled with only text.
