WrestleMania Main Event Disappointing to Fans

April 9, 2018

The chant "this is awesome" is a familiar chant in the WWE at their live events.

The chant "this is awful" is not.

That was the chant ringing throughout the Louisiana Superdome last night at WWE's premier event of the year, WrestleMania.

Fans took to Twitter to show their disapproval of the main event between champion Brock Lesnar and challenger Roman Reigns.

SB Nation's Social Producer Hector Diaz thinks the main event should be a woman's match, especially if it has been proven to be, in his opinion, the best match of the night.

Brandon Stroud, pro wrestling editor for UPROXX, a culture news website, is tired of the WWE trying to push over Roman Reigns as the new face of the company. Stroud is ready for a change next year, but sarcastically brings up a good point; next WrestleMania might feature Reigns in the main event yet again.

All in all, WrestleMania was an uninspired event at best. The main event was indeed "awful" as the fans chanted. I too am getting worn out on Brock Lesnar, a part-time wrestler, being the Universal Champion. I am also tired of Roman Reigns being in the main event of nearly every pay-per-view event this whole wrestling year dating back to last year's WrestleMania. Since then, Reigns has been in the main event of WrestleMania 33, Payback, Extreme Rules, SummerSlam, Elimination Chamber, and Wrestlemania 34 last night.

What is the solution to this?

WWE needs to start focusing on the future of their product, and need to start realizing that fans do not want the same superstar, Roman Reigns, in the WrestleMania main event every year (he has been in the last four 'Mania main events). They need to also give the championship belts to superstars who are more deserving than Brock Lesnar. AJ Styles and Shinsuke Nakamura was useful as it featured two wrestlers that deserve to be champion.

Last night was a teaching moment for the WWE. I hope, for their sake, that they learned what to do differently moving forward.
