PLEDGE DRIVE TESTIMONIAL - TANNER CHAMBERS

April 23, 2016

“The best radio is made because of the hosts and the team work of everyone and that’s definitely something that 88.1 The ‘Burg represents.”

Originally, Tanner Chambers, also known as Tanner the Intern and associate music director at KCWU-FM, came to CWU for the college radio station. He came to The ‘Burg last year as a freshman at CWU and since then has grown into what we here at The ‘Burg call, a passion-position. Chambers works sometimes six days a week just to make sure everything is done successfully to fit the musical needs of the students and staff at 88.1 The ‘Burg. Along with the additional music department staff, Chambers also talks with radio promoters on a daily basis, processes new music, schedules blogs and podcast and helps coordinate our annual Burgstock battle of the bands music festival in the spring. Although the job comes with a large work-load and attention to detail, Chambers says he wouldn’t want to be doing anything else than working in radio.

“I want to go into radio for my career, this is what I want to do for the rest of my life.”

Chambers host multiple shows including his own music show, “Adjacent Minds” Tuesdays 6-8pm and co-hosts the long-standing morning show at The ‘Burg, The Wake-Up Call, Thursday and Friday mornings from 6-8am. These shows are not only a creative outlet for Chambers and fellow on-air host to express themselves on air, but a training ground for perfecting, what he calls the ‘art-form” that is radio.

“A big reason why we are so successful is because we are so immersed in the community greatly. Radio is an art-form and with your help, we can build it bigger and better still.”

Thank you to YOU listeners and to Tanner the Intern for helping us be apart of the community and sharing our love for all things radio!
