Have you Heard About OSU Baseball?

With the up and down season that the Mariners have had this season, many people have not been watching college baseball this year. This is a great travesty because very quietly the Oregon State baseball team has put together one of the greatest seasons in college baseball history. It is very hard for a team to quietly win 49 games in a season, but somehow OSU has done just that this year.

This year Oregon State has a record of 54-4. With a 93 winning percentage OSU is on pace for the greatest college baseball seasons ever in NCAA history. This OSU team has not lost a single game since the end of April. I would give most of the credit to the manager Pat Casey for the success of the OSU baseball turnaround 23 years ago.

Since Pat Casey took over as the skipper in 1995, OSU has won over 790 games in those years. He helped lead OSU to back to back national championships in 2006 and 2007. These being the first national championships that OSU had ever. Casey has won so many awards at OSU that he must have a hard time finding a spot for them on his trophy case.

Casey has also helped many former players make it to the MLB. Over 40 players have made it to the show and two former Beavers have won the World Series as well. Casey has shown over the years that he can create talent. He has helped lead some average teams and make them into champions.

I give this background on Pat Casey because no team that has only lost 4 games in a season has ever won the college baseball world series. Every single team that has done this in the past has lost at one point in the playoffs. I believe that through the leadership of Pat Casey, that this OSU team can change that. For the rest of the playoffs I will be cheering hard for the OSU Beavers and Pat Casey to win another title.
