(NBC) Poultry workers have been denied bathroom breaks to the point of having to wear diapers in the assembly line. A report from Oxfam America and NBC says Tyson Feeds, Perdue Farms, Pilgrim’s Pride, and Sanderson Farms mock their plant workers when asked if they can use the restroom. Tony Corbo has more detailed a survey from the Southern Poverty Law Firm. Anonymous employees claim to witness people urinating themselves on the job, but all companies have issued statements of denial. The U.S. Poultry and Egg Association questions Oxfam’s “efforts to paint the whole industry with a broad brush”, saying these kind of issues are rare.
(CNN) George Zimmerman was set to auction the gun used to kill Trayvon Martin in 2012. Zimmerman described the gun as an “American firearm icon” and said this. The auction post, now completely disappeared, said proceeds from the sale would be used to fight Black Lives Matter violence against law enforcement. According to CNN, critics have described Zimmerman as an overzealous wannabe police officer who racially profiled Martin and shot him down. Zimmerman has since pulled the auction bid and denied media requests.
(FOX) Donald Trump and Paul Ryan say that unity between the two will take some time. The two met this morning on Capitol Hill following Ryan’s decline to endorse Trump last week. A joint statement form them says, “While we were honest about our few differences, we recognize that there are also many important areas of common ground.” “We will be having additional discussions, but remain confident there’s a great opportunity to unify our party and win this fall, and we are totally committed to working together to achieve that goal.”
(FOX) A car bomb explosion in Instanbul wounded eighth this morning. Five military personnel and three civilians were affected by the attack penned by Kurdish rebels in the Kurdistan Workers’ Party, which has claimed over 400 fatalities since 2000. The group has waged decades-long insurgency against the state, according to FOX News. Many fatalities in Turkey are also held responsible by the Islamic State and Al Qaida.
