“When we won that award, college radio station of the year award in 2015, that affirmed to mean that we were doing everything right.”
Tim Mitchell, the assistant news director for News Central at 88.1 The ‘Burg, didn’t start out with a strong passion to report the news. He first heard about The ‘Burg after being handed a free CD from The ‘Burg street-team during Wildcat Welcome Weekend his first year at Central. After thinking about how much he loved music, he decide to join the radio station as a volunteer and quickly started his position as assistant and lead music director for the music department.
This year, Mitchell has taken a different path at The ‘Burg as the assistant news director and expanded his passion for writing and reporting the news. It’s clear that Mitchell has excelled in his strength for writing and reporting national or local news and hopes it will continue to change the impact of radio in a new dimension of news reporting. You can catch him on air every weekday, Monday- Friday, 1-2pm co-hosting or hosting News Central talk show on The ‘Burg or hosting his own music show, “When the Sun Hits” Friday mornings from 8-10am.
It’s thanks to 88.1 The ‘Burg that Mitchell has been able to strengthen his music knowledge or interviewing skills by being apart of the radio station. He gets to do a job everyday that he loves and to Mitchell, that’s what matters most.
“What matters in this world is what YOU love doing and for us, we love making great radio.”
Thank you to YOU listeners and to Tim Mitchell for bringing us “The news that keeps us up-to-date and informed” only on 88.1 The ‘Burg News Central!
