Legendary punk icon Iggy Pop recently kicked off his Post Pop Depression Tour at Seattle’s historic Paramount Theatre. The show sold out in record minutes, and people from all over the state were waiting in the lobby in anticipation just to see Iggy Pop live and in the flesh.
This time however, Pop brought some familiar faces that are acting as his touring band. This included Queens of The Stone Age/Kyuss/Eagles of Death Metal frontman Josh Homme on lead guitar and backing vocals, Dean Fertita of QOTSA on guitar and bass, and Arctic Monkeys drummer Matt Helders.
The brains behind The Stooges (and later Iggy and The Stooges) didn’t disappoint the rowdy fans in attendance. In matter of fact he got the crowd going at the beginning of show with his trademark classic ‘Lust for Life.’ For a man who is nearing 70, he sure didn’t act the age as he fed off the rowdy crowd dancing a jig with his bandmates while belting the lyrics to ‘Lust for Life.” Pop’s energy on stage is something that needs to be seen.
Being able to see Homme on stage after the tragic Paris terrorist attacks that his band (Eagles of Death Metal) was subject to was amazing. It just proves to show that nothing can stop Homme at doing what he loves.
Iggy Pop recently released his recent album Post Pop Depression a few weeks ago, earning him the number one spot on the Billboard charts.
