With nearly two decades in the music industry, Sound Tribe Sector 9 (STS9) is considered one of the leading figures in the live electronic world.
Self-described as post-rock dance music, STS9 has released 11 albums, two remixed albums, and multiple live DVDs all on their own label, 1320 Records. The instrumental band has a sound that is most influenced by instrumental rock and electronic music, funk, jazz, drum and bass, psychedelia, and hip-hop. Their most recent studio EP, When The Dust Settles, debuted #1 on the iTunes Electronic Charts and in Billboards Top 25. The first single from that album “Scheme” was downloaded over 100,000 times in its first week alone.
STS9 has toured nationally and internationally selling out numerous venues across the country. Their 2003 performance at the Fox Theater in Boulder, Colorado sold out in less than fifteen minutes. They are ranked among Pollstar Magazine’s list of top grossing touring acts with a recent average attendance of over 5,000 fans per city.
The band has a heavy presence in the music festival scene. They have headlined at festivals like Wakausa, Moogfest, Lollapalooza, Regeneration, Electric Forest Festival, and more.
