Reggae music is everlasting, you don’t have to know the artist or fully understand patois (patwa) to like the music. Once the drums and base come together, you may not help but to move your feet and let your inner-self take over, because it is spiritual, reviving, original, mystical, and relatable.
When you tune in to my show you will be exposed to old school reggae commonly known as “Roots” (Bob Marley, Peter Tosh, Burning Spear, Freddie McGregor, and many more).
Contemporary reggae is more modern with artists such as Luciano, Chronixx, Slightly Stoopid, SOJA, Alaine, Etana, Stephen Marley, Sublime, Matisyahu and many more.
Dancehall music does fall under the umbrella of Reggae music and it ranges from the early pioneers such as Yellowman, Super Cat, Shabba Ranks to the new artists such as Mavado, Sean Paul, Gyptian, Konshens, Popcaan, Vybz Kartel and many more.
Some history about Reggae Lovers:
I have been doing my show for almost two years now and I have to testify that Reggae Lovers is MORE than just a show, it is a MOVEMENT!! We( me and my listeners) have come a long way since the beginning, we started with a small fan base and I can guarantee you right now that just about everybody in the community of Ellensburg either knows me or the “movement” Reggae Lovers. From people who work in Grocery Outlet, Pizza Colin, The Bicycle Shop, and many more, I have met with my people and they have testified that this movement is not only good but it is RIGHT!
But, I do know that the journey is far from over, this is an outline of future goals that I have in mind:
-Reach more people
-Break more barriers, including making a documentary about the show with the help of my brother Ben Wenzl
-Line up more interviews for the show
-More ticket giveaways
-Wicked promos
-Use of Soundcloud regularly (to upload wicked segments from shows)
-More engaging news, emphasis on students and the community
-Distribution of merchandise including shirts and hats for everyone else (I currently have a hat “Selecta Steppa”, it has been a good tool for promo)
-Expand our followers on FaceBook and Twitter.
With all of your help this is possible.
