I have been a radio nut all my life. At age 9, I discovered KFI 640 AM in Los Angeles while listening at home one night in Walla Walla, WA, where I spent part of my childhood. It has been a privilege to be part of The 'Burg professionally now for over 12 years, and to live in Ellensburg with my wife and two children. Outside of the station, I am an active musician and hope to become more actively involved in the HAM radio community under my new call sign, KF7GTF.

My father had been a school administrator, and in his earlier years, he was a radio broadcaster in Utah. When I informed him that I wanted to be a teacher, he thought I was wacked out! So, he directed me into radio, and since then - both education and broadcasting have become intertwined in my life.
I’ve been a Radio Broadcasting/Audio Production instructor for about 27 years and CWU is my fourth school. My duties at The ’Burg are extremely diversified. As the Chief Engineer, my job is to maintain the transmitter, the Emergency Alert System, and all audio related to our state-of-the-art studios, specifically the Axia system. On the other end of the spectrum, I’m also the Operations and Program Director responsible for all facets of the on-air sound.
My goal this year is to focus on improving the announcing skills of our volunteers (we don’t have a formal Radio Broadcasting class). If you think you have what it takes, I welcome you to our merry band of rookie broadcasters. Please see our photo gallery to get an idea of the fun in store for you.

My career has included several years in various capacities with the Walt Disney Company, prior work as a State Juvenile Rehabilitation Counselor, and a number of roles at Central Washington University prior to joining forces with The ’Burg in 1999.
I am one of the first people you’re likely to see when you visit our studios. As The ’Burg’s Program Coordinator, I oversee The ’Burg’s office management and business functions, routinely interface with station visitors and other University departments, as well as a variety of other duties that help keep assorted gears in motion behind the scenes.
We have a state-of-the-art new broadcast facility that I am especially proud of, as I had the honor to have a primary role in its design phase. We welcome the involvement from all CWU students, regardless of their major. We encourage you to come see for yourself that there’s more to The ’Burg than just being on-the-air, though that’s a great part of it too!

You might think The ‘Burg has a lot of great music, and you would be correct, but without yours truly it would be a void of broken plastic and shattered dreams. In other words, I make sure the music library runs smoothly, as well as making program logs, taking meeting minutes, and being the friendly meet and greet person in the front office.
