If you have walked in the ‘Burg station halls chances are you have seen Nick Oliver. The guy practically lives at the station and it was no surprise he took home the DJ of the Month honors for October. Armed with energy, a love of music and the need to be heard, Oliver is a natural fit at 88.1 The ‘Burg.
Oliver started volunteering with the ‘Burg at the beginning of his freshman year, Fall of 2012. In fact, The ‘Burg is the reason Oliver decided on attending Central in the first place. Already knowing he was going to major in Broadcast Journalism, Oliver set out to use The ‘Burg not only as a way to express himself, but start building a resume that would land him a dream job after graduation. Oliver clocked over 90 volunteer hours for the month of October. Not only is Oliver at nearly every ‘Burg event but he also co-hosts two shows and makes guest appearances on other shows as much as time will allow. All of Oliver’s hard work paid off because he was recently hired as a Core Staff Assistant.
You can catch Mr. Oliver on-air, Wednesdays between 10 and midnight on “The Dirty Dyslexic” for a mix of grunge and punk with co-host, Hands the Dyslexic DJ. The DJ of the Month is also a co-host of hip-hop themed “The #Snowcat Show” with Crazy Cat Tayler, Thursdays between 3 and 6 p.m.
Congratulations to our October DJ of the month, Nick Oliver!
