Shows of Note – Our Resolution

Some people want to lose weight, some people want to break a bad habit and others just want to get plurnt. USC Events is making the latter resolution easy with Resolution 2014.  A lineup of over 15 artists, the EDM extravaganza looks to continue its tradition of being the biggest party in Washington state this New Year’s.

Everyone is obviously stoked for headliners Knife Party and Above & Beyond, but there are a few other artists on the playbill The ‘Burg is particularly excited about.

Figure

Figure

Figure is the poster child for making your way through the ranks of EDM. Making a name for himself in the American dream fashion, Figure, aka Josh Gard, is originally from a small town in Indiana and has gradually gone from traditional DJ techniques of scratching vinyl to dubstep production.  When asked in an interview with SimplyGigantic.com if he thinks DJs make better producers he had to admit that if you do one it will help with the other, and we agree.

Lazy Rich

Lazy Rich

Electrohouse DJ, Lazy Rich (Richard Billis), is a Canadian import who has caught our attention. Influenced by Wolfgang Gartner, Deadmau5 and Zero 7, the man claims to have a hankering for evil sounding music as opposed to the bright and fluffy.  His career on the rise, Lazy Rich has worked with Deadmau5, Lady GaGa, Fatboy Slim and many more on remixes and other projects. Lazy Rich isn’t stopping anytime soon and we’re glad he isn’t.

NERVO

NERVO

It isn’t common to see female producers in the EDM scene. It’s even less common to see twins. NERVO is truly a breath of fresh air. Talented, sexy and blonde, they may just be on their way to becoming EDM icons. Originally songwriters for stars like Ke$ha and the Pussycat Dolls, twins Mim and Liv co-wrote “When Love Takes Over” by David Guetta and Kelly Rowland. The Australian born NERVO twins are now COVERGIRLS and have had quite the year in 2013. It will be hard to top their success in 2014 but Resolution will be a great way to start trying.

The ‘Burg is giving away multiple pairs of tickets to Resolution 2014. Listen between 10 and midnight tomorrow (12/6) for a shot at winning. Check out our Resolution Ticket Giveaway Blog and Facebook event for details on how you can be entered into a Resolution ticket drawing.

Live Your Life in Color

EDM fans all over the state are drooling over USC Events’ next big show. Life in Color :: Rebirth Tour (formerly Dayglow), which claims to be the “world’s largest paint party” will be taking place at the Tacoma Dome on May 18th. The event is not only a paint party but will include soaring aerial acts, stilt-walkers, contortionists and fire shows… so your usual state of the art EDM production only USC is capable of putting on.

Usually regular tickets are enough but concert-goers may want to consider purchasing VIP tickets to this event. The VIP package includes a t-shirt, sunglasses, CD, bottle of paint and complimentary bag and coat check. Regular tickets are $48 while the VIP ticket is $80.

The event will feature Flux Pavilion, Chuckie, Mat Zo and David Solano.

Flux Pavilion is probably who folks are most excited about. Flux started getting attention in 2009 when he hit the scene out of Towncester, UK. An EDM artist with a specialty in dubstep he released his most recent album titled Blow the Roof, January 25 of this year. Known for his superb rhythms and insane bass lines Flux has successfully woven traditional instruments and vocals into his music. Interestingly, Flux grew up with other EDM DJ’s Doctor P and Trolley Snatcha. All three DJs produce dubstep and Flux and Doctor P have worked together quite a bit.

Born and raised in Paramaribo in South America DJ Chuckie’s  mixing skills and general charisma have made him a crowd favorite during live performances. Chuckie’s music is definitely something you can dance to and he sticks to the more house style as opposed to the harder dubstep. Born with the name Clyde, DJ Chuckie rose to fame when he started deejaying at house parties under that name. Now selling out shows and gaining a worldwide fan base, Chuckie is someone who is still continuing to rise in the EDM genre.

Trance fans will be pleased to see Mat Zo on the bill for Life in Color. Matan “Mat Zo” Zohar is part of the British EDM invasion, the U.S. is all too happy to accept. Zo was attracted to electronic genre when he fell in love with Daft Punk. After he got his first computer in 2001, Zo started producing his own music and thanks to the power of the internet was able to develop a fan base. In 2006, at only 16 years old Zo had his first signing of a track and his career has been on the rise ever since.

The only American based artist to be featured at Life In Color is David Solano. From Miami, Florida he is a producer, DJ, remixer and relative newbie to the electronic dance music scene. The most unknown artist on the lineup he has worked with R3hab, Brass Knuckles and Starkillers.
