Although we are a music driven station, 88.1 The ‘Burg appreciates all kinds of art and entertainment. This is why we are stoked to promote and giveaway tickets to a comedy show featuring “The Nerdist” Chris Hardwick.
Actor, television personality, writer, blogger and comedian, Hardwick has his fingers in many of the entertainment cookie jars. In his attempt to create an evil nerd empire, Hardwick founded Nerdist.com, a top-ten comedy podcast on iTunes that focuses on cosplay, comics, games, science and other geeky topics.
Chris Hardwick will be performing in the northwest on December 13 at the Showbox at the Market in Seattle and The ‘Burg will be giving away tickets to the show. Listen today (12/2) between 3 and 6 p.m. and Friday (12/6) between 8 and 10 a.m.
With artists like Common Market, Blue Scholars and Macklemore making a name for Washington hip hop, sometimes we forget that Seattle and the rest of the evergreen state has produced some pretty awesome alternative acts as well.
Adding Up the Wasted Hours is the group’s fourth full length studio album and dropped October 15 of this year. The album has clear indie-pop influences with the introduction of synthesizers, pop beats and light vocals. It’s no surprise The Lonely Forest lists Two Door Cinema Club and Minus the Bear as influences on their Facebook page. The album as a whole has striking similarity to Death Cab for Cutie both in instrumentation and vocal stylings. Perhaps The Lonely Forest can one day be an opener for their fellow Washington band.
You can catch the band perform in the Pacific Northwest, November 8 at Bunk Bar in Portland and/or in Seattle at The Neptune Theatre, November 9. The ‘Burg is giving away one pair of tickets to the Seattle show today (11/4) between 3 and 6 p.m on Snap. Crackle. Rock. with Rice Krispy so tune-in for a chance to win!
Garfunkel and Oates is a duo made up of two of the most bad-ass women in comedy and music. The funny team made up of singer/actresses Riki Lindhome (Garfunkel) and Kate Micucci (Oates) writes and performs some of the dirtiest, cutest, catchiest indie music around.
The hilarious duo will be performing at The Neptune Theatre in Seattle on November 1st and The ‘Burg has all the hookups. Tune-in to Geek Speak tomorrow (10/25) between 8 a.m. and 10 a.m for a chance to win tickets to the Seattle show. We will also give a pair away Monday (10/28) between 3 and 6 p.m. Don’t miss out on the opportunity to see this pretty, witty group!
